2022 Term 2 High School Timetable
English Class
For Yr 7 – Yr 12
We are offering classes in a group environment up until 10.
At Altius Education, students are given the opportunity to learn from English teachers that are extremely experienced in the study of English, many of which have held different senior positions in prestigious schools in Australia, and experience in the HSC marking system. We have teachers with qualifications in the “gifted and talented” aspects of teaching.
For Yr 11 – Yr 12
We also offer one-on-one tutoring excluding the ELS group. ELS English is best in a group environment which will give the students the opportunity for group interaction and therefore providing them with the many benefits that a group environment can provide.
- the teaching of English (Standard, Advanced, Extension), all secondary, HSC and Tertiary levels (TAFE and University)
- development of curriculum for all subjects and study courses
- HSC setting and marking experience
- development of interactive educational material for the past 20 years
English Philosophy class
Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9 students apart from our core English class. This English Philosophy Course aimed at developing writing by first developing thinking.
Course Title: How Can You Write Well If You Have Nothing To Say?
Year 7, Year 8 and 9 is the perfect time for students to widen their view of the world. They need to make connections between ideas encountered in different subjects, know what is happening across the world in politics, look elsewhere other than their phone screens, think about values and test values.
It is only when students have interesting thoughts that they can write interestingly. It is only when students can discuss specific examples that they can develop their ideas and write at length.
This course looks to developing the skills required at Year 11 and 12 levels, but begins the process when there is enough time to allow these skills to develop.
Teacher – Mr Stoneham has an Honours Masters Degree from Sydney University and a certificate of Gifted Education from UNSW. He has taught in the English Department at Sydney University. Maths Class
Altius has varying levels of high school Mathematics. We represent quality teaching who actually teach properly with new high school curriculum. All of our Maths teachers are highly qualified. They teach in high school, university or tertiary education. We would like to assess all new students before we place them into one of our classes. This is very important as it ensures that the student is placed in the correct level class for them and therefore giving the maximum benefit that can get from it.
